Useful tasks in Osprey

Using the psctl tool to batch-create torrents and upload them to an Osprey document

psctl --doc <document id number> --batch --torrent --upload /path/to/files/*

For this to work, an appropriate Osprey document must already exist. Use the doc id number with the --doc option. If login and password information are not in a ~/.permaseed.conf file (see below), use the --user and --pass psctl options.

Saving your personal settings in a multi-user permaseed environment

Permaseed supports a multi-user environment when the torrent file/root mapping configuration is set to "multi". This allows the permaseed torrent root directory to include subdirectories with separate torrent file groupings.

For convenience, the psctl tool looks for configuration options in ~/.permaseed.conf. Users can save their Osprey login and password information, as well as paths to their permaseed torrent directories. The format for ~/.permaseed.conf is the same as the regular permaseed config file. The following example demonstrates useful options.

osprey_user myospreylogin
osprey_pass supersecretpassword
torrents_dir /path/to/permaseed/mydir
torrents_file /path/to/permaseed/mydir/torrents.conf
